DotA 6.58 Official Map Released



At last, after waiting so long Dota 6.58 Official Map - Dota-Allstars 6.58 released and ready to download.

Extra Note: Since people regularly misunderstand how this works, the damage returned is reduced twice, first when you get the damage and then again when you deal it back. Flesh Golem
------------
Dirge's hatred for all living beings allows him to transform into a monster. While he's transformed he carries a plague that affects nearby enemy units. Strength of the plague depends on how close the enemy is. Amplifies damage enemy units receive and reduces their movement speed (7%). When a plagued unit dies, its essence is transferred back to the Undying.

In between is just an even spread between the numbers

Units that die under plague release their energy to you. Creeps heal you for 3% and Heroes for 12% of your Max HP.

Static Remnant
-----------------
Raijin creates a remnant of himself containing his essence. The Static Remnant will release its stored energy whenever an enemy units comes near it. Lasts up to 12 seconds.

Takes 1 second to create after cast. This is not channeling, just time delayed.


Electric Vortex
-----------------
Storm focuses his energy to rip open a vortex drawing an enemy to it. This process slows the Storm Spirit down for a brief period.

Pulls 100/150/200/250 units over 1/1.5/2/2.5 seconds.
Your movement is reduced by 50% for 3 seconds.

Manacost: 100
Cooldown: 20


Overload
---------
Storm Spirit becomes overloaded with electrical energy whenever he casts a spell. The charge is released on his next attack as an electrical burst, dealing damage and slowing nearby units.

Slow: 50% as 80% ms Lasts 0.6 seconds (Same stats as old overload)
Bonus damage: 30/45/60/75
AOE: 275


Ball Lightning
---------------
Storm Spirit becomes enveloped with energy, losing his physical form, and travels until he depletes his mana or chooses to stop. While in this form, he deals damage to nearby units based on how far his electrical form has traversed. Damage, speed and area of effect improves per level.

Stops traveling whenever you run out of mana. Deals damage in a small area around you based on distance traveled.

Damage: 8/12/16 per 100 units traveled
Manacost: (15 + 7% of total manabase) + mana based on distance traveled (10+1% per 100 units)
Cast Range: Global
Cooldown: 0

Travel speed and damage AoE improves per level.
You can cast spells like Static Remnant during your roll if you are quick enough.
Specific interactions with spells/projectiles follow the same rules as Waveform does.




Replay Data Specs:
==================
- "Ban",playerid,heroid: is sent for each time a hero is banned in cm/xl
- "id" packets are sent after the mode phase (supports -sp)
- "GameStart",1: synced to time 0 ingame (creep spawn time)
- "9" packets are now sent each time a hero is picked



Switch:
========
If someone wants to switch player slots with an enemy player or leaver, he
types -switch . If he types -switch without the slot it lists the possible numbers that can be used. After a player uses this command, no one else can attempt a switch for 60 seconds, to prevent confusion. All players are then presented with a command to enter to accept, something like "-switch accept" or "-ok". If 100% of all player agree , then you take the slot of the player you swapped with and both heroes swap positions. Players have until the 60 seconds are over to accept the offer.

Cloud Strife on Dota-Allstars
Cloud Strife is joined the Dota-Allstars hero list? Wow, what makes IceFrog change his mind? But no, it's BuffMePlz with his Dota 6.57b AI Incremental Map that include Cloud and several custom heroes on his map. That's why BMP didn't post this map on Dota-Allstars forums, because there's so many new things he add, including new items (i call it tier 5 Dota items) and a lot of new heroes.

Final Fantasy on Dota-Allstars

You can choose a lot of heroes now from the fun tavern. Including characters from Final Fantasy, Starcraft and more.


Dota-Allstars Special Items
Check the requirement for the items, it's really expensive. I think it deserve to called tier 5 items.

dota allstars 6.57b AIPlus Update BuffMePlz is releasing Dota-Allstars 6.57b AIplus 1.52 update, but not yet an official release. Therefore, i will call it Dota-Allstars 6.57b AIplus 1.52 20081215 just like the file name. Even though this map is not yet official, i think this map is provide more bug fixes than the previous Dota 6.57b AI, Dota 6.57b AIplus revision 2.

miniDota, Mini Version of Dota-Allstars download. Have you ever heard it before? I just read the forums today and see a thread about this miniDota ^__^ Well, if you played Dota-Allstars before, you must be already familiar with this map game-play. The major different is on the map size and hero choice. Curious? Here is the complete information about this map :)


MiniDota

miniDotA is designed and intended as a small simulation of the DotA Allstars game. The map is made available in two variants, a closed one containing 22 heroes (including 7 custom heroes and 15 from the original DotA, with kind permission from IceFrog), and an open, editable map containing only the 7 custom heroes. The closed map can be used for small DotA-esque games with 2 to 6 players. Since the playable map area is much smaller than DotA proper it is very action intensive as heroes are constantly near each other. The open map is made available for two purposes: those that are keen to learn how to make a map like DotA, and those that would like to implement their hero/item ideas into a playable map. (In principle this also allows balance-testing of hero ideas under realistic conditions.)

* 15 DotA heroes. Only non-complex heroes were implemented which were approved of by IceFrog. These heroes are: (Sven) Rogueknight, Slithereen Guard, Troll Warlord, Lightning Revenant, Dragon Knight, Death Prophet, (Lina) Slayer, Queen of Pain, Anti-Mage, Phantom Assassin, Omniknight, Bone Fletcher, Bounty Hunter, N'aix (old variant), Dwarven Sniper.
* 7 custom heroes. Several original ideas were implemented, some of these are somewhat exotic and as such are not necessarily suitable for DotA (but they do fit in here well enough). The heroes are described in detail further down. To summarise: Child of Loki, Helix, Manifestation, Mindflayer, Pandaren Lifeshaper, Ivory Retainer, Gorelord.
* Miniature DotA map. A very small version of DotA, including most elements typical to DotA: Creep waves, towers, items (with recipes), forest shops.
* Continous Player-vs-Player battles. Since the map is very small heroes face each other constantly. The map isn't big enough to support heroes running off into forests and farming neutral creeps.
* Random taverns. Each team possesses one tavern that is randomly filled with heroes from the available set of heroes. The algorithm is implemented to allow for any number of heroes to be randomly and evenly assigned to the available tavern space, thus 2 or 200 potential heroes would be distributed randomly and evenly into the 22 available spaces in the two taverns.

DotA 6.57 seems straightforward enough. Looks like I might have to manually redo all the regions again, which is pain, but not difficult.

Okay. Thanks guys, I'll see if I can have something up as soon as tomorrow.

Also, an update on that command line thing: you'll note that long commands only fail with 10 players (works fine with 9). It seems to be hanging on the Scoreboard generation routine, which you can see when you try to input a long command with 10 players. The scoreboard will appear in the upper right corner (says "DotA Allstars", regardless of the mode), and if you open it, you'll see it's only half done. There's probably a loop that keeps running and stops the script from proceeding, which halts the system from detecting the specified game modes. I need to look at it more (I only glanced briefly at it last night before going to bed).

Also, fixed KOTL learning attribute bonuses and Crystal Maiden now learns Brilliance Aura after Frost Nova and Frostbite (instead of at levels 22-25).

I hope you guys are trying the same thing with the other abilities. (Try not learning Focus Fire, or try not learning Windrunner).

Reduced the map size too, I had a faulty compression in Rev. 1. Whee!

Yeah, 6.54 came out quickly because the changes between it and 6.53 were minimal, and 6.53 came out only shortly after the official map because 6.52 took me so long that by the time I finished it, 6.53 was out already (and the changes between 6.52 and 6.53 were also minimal).

6.55 is more like 6.52, so a gap of time between when 6.51 and 6.53 ports is probably roughly indicative of how long this will take.

Also, I've been meaning to do a complete framework reconstruction on the map to improve compatibility and stability, and now that several systems have been rewritten (including the bloody game clock), now seems as good a time as any to do that. I started it yesterday, but it means this will take even longer...but hopefully the end result should be more stable than what we've got now.

On the upside I did finish updating the terrain and regions. =) AI can move normally around the new field now.

Wow, i think BMP is made great progress, here is his latest statement on 16 October:)
An update, for those who are curious about progress:

-All terrain and unit locations have been updated, and AI can move around normally.
-All item recipes have been updated (though new items have not been completely implemented yet).
-Roshan aura routine implemented
-Admiral Proudmoore and Windrunner implemented
-Implemented assisted neutral killing routine (if single hero assist on Sentinel/Scourge kill), but gold distribution has not been updated yet
-Implemented bonus gold/XP in AOE of hero death

And my personal favourite:
-Updating much of the map framework resulted in -dm working properly again (to the best of my knowledge)

And yes, I am working with 6.56.

Yay. Still much to do, but I'm sleepy now. =P


Progress is coming along nicely...I'm actually working quite a bit faster than I had anticipated. Who would've guessed?

-A few extra bug/typo fixes (bugs and typos that exist in official 6.56 also...but I'll fix them anyway)
-Updated AI behaviour for new terrain/spawnpoints/itemcosts
-Most everything else in 6.55/56 changelogs that's not on the "still to do" list

Update part 3: (23 October 2008)

It has come to my attention that there are a LOT of fake AI maps floating around on the internet, and as far as I can tell, they don't work. And they're definitely not from me.

I figure most of you already know that, but I just want reiterate it in case we get another repeat of an idiot posting about how "the newest map doesn't work".

Again, I will update here (DotA Allstars forums) as soon as I have a map, so stay tuned and tell your friends the same.

Also, I've finished all the item work (BKB, Scrolls, Couriers not being able to use Wards), and as far as I can tell the AI should use these properly (though I've been wrong before about that, heh). I still need to update visuals and tower bounty mechanics, which should be fairly straightforward. The game timer/creep spawning will take a little more work, so depending on how well it goes I might just drop it for Rev. 1 and implement it in Rev. 2.

I'll probably have some people do some beta testing in about a week and then a release somewhat shortly thereafter. If all goes well I'm hoping we can see something in ~3 weeks (if not sooner!).

Hmmm, that's great news. Let's just wait a little more shall we. But i hope he will dropped Dota-Allstars 6.56 AIplus v1.52 Rev. 1 first, so while waiting for Revision 2 we already can play with AI :)

Update part 4: (24 October 2008)
I've finished with the tower bounty mechanisms and visuals (most of them), along with some bugfixes. Really the only thing left is that bloody game clock, which when I tried to implement yesterday (again), broke the AI (again), so I promptly undid those changes (again). I've changed the creep spawn times to how they are in 6.56, but I might just manually address the new powerup/neutrals/Roshan/supercreep times with the existing game clock. You'll all just have to wait for the countdown timer, unless I somehow come across an amazing breakthrough that makes everything work.

Also, don't expect new -cm or -rd modes to make it anytime soon. They're a pain.

If I somehow find it in me to work as much on the map today as I did yesterday (for about 6 hours after work...I'm such a loser, haha), then I expect I'll have a rough beta done by the weekend.


Update part 5: (28 October 2008)
Right you are.

I never said anything about releasing this week; I said I would have a rough beta out (which I did, and it was rough), and now there are a few gamebreaking bugs that I need to address. One of which is currently very, very difficult to locate and driving me crazy.

I also didn't get a chance to work on it much this weekend, because I actually did stuff in real life. If you expect me to apologise for that...don't. =P


Ugh, i think this is bad news.. Let's hope BMP can resolve it quick. I already ask him about that major problem, and it can cause 4 from 5 games ended with fatal error :(

Update part 6: (2 November 2008)
Getting closer to being done; I just rewrote Tidebringer completely because it kept crashing the game, similar to the way Meld used to before I rewrote it.

However, there seems to be a more significant frame rate drop with large amounts of creeps than before. I don't currently have a good way of fixing it. =/ I'll keep updating the framework for future revisions, hopefully that will reduce the speed drop.
